This is the second phase of the Star City Streetscape and Edith B. Barill Trailhead Park executed by the Town of Star City. The main elements of the project include a bicycle and pedestrian way, more attractive entrances to the trailhead area, improved definition of areas for automobiles and non-motorized uses, improved accessibility for the physically impaired, and improved citizen safety and welfare. As part of achieving these goals, sidewalks, concrete curb and gutter, handicap curb ramps, on-street and off-street parking, and bike-lane construction will occur on three streets: University Avenue, Frontier Street and Leeway Street. These streets and their intersections are the boundaries of the project area. Special attention will be given to pedestrian crosswalk design and pedestrian-friendly facilities. E.L. Robinson (ELR) is currently in the Construction Document phase of this project. Plans and specifications are being prepared to provide period lighting, park benches, wrought iron trash receptacles, brick sidewalks and bumpouts, brick veneered retaining walls, signage, storm sewer improvements and other utility upgrades to be constructed in the Fall of 2005.
