  Eddie Long City Park

The need for outdoor recreation and a revenue generator prompted the City of Smithers to develop a new park within the community on the undeveloped FEMA-condemned land.

The land is across from the existing athletic fields of Valley High School and meanders between Smithers Creek and railroad right-of-ways to the proposed community park just off of US 60.

E.L. Robinson Engineering Co. prepared a master plan with open play areas, parking, picnic shelter, play grounds, miniature golf, pond and water feature, hiking trails and bridge across Smithers Creek. The City is presently in the Grant Application Phase and plan on beginning construction document preparation very soon.
