Coopers Rock, Pisgah and Laurel Run Waterline Extension |
E.L. Robinson Engineering Co. was retained by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection to improve the water services in and around Coopers Rock State Forest . The goal of the E.L. Robinson water engineers was to enable the client to provide a safe, dependable and economical supply of water to their 77 customers, whose water had been affected by pre-law mining. While this project seemed small in numbers, it was more difficult than it looked on paper. In this project, bringing water to the 77 customers meant building a water tower in Cooper's Rock State Forest . The engineering team had to come up with a plan that would service the customers, be cost effective, and not detract from the natural beauty of Coopers Rock State Forest . E.L. Robinson Company came up with a plan; they prepared a computer model of the distribution system and performed hydraulic calculations of the proposed system and designed the necessary pumping and storage tank facility.
Beyond this, they were able to create a water tank that fit in to the natural scenery of Coopers Rock State Forest. E.L. Robinson's engineering team designed this sleek, tall tower that would not take up a lot of space on the forest ground. In addition they specially ordered paint, in what other color than Forest Green. This allowed the water tower to blend in with the trees, and not be an intrusion in the park. Many people that drive past the park say they don't even notice the tower, the goal of the engineering team.
