Star City Phase II Streetscape and Trailhead

With the vision of becoming the regional hub of activity for bicycle enthusiasts in northern WV, the Town of Star City set out to improve accommodations for bicyclists and hikers/walkers along the Monongahela River.  Phase I included access to the riverside park and rail-trails, and the beautification and improvements of the streets along University Avenue and Frontier Street.  As Phase I was completed, the Town began to plan for Phase II.  E.L. Robinson Engineering Co. (ELR) was selected by the Town of Star City to complete the first phases of construction, and design the new Phase II streetscape improvements to the streets near the river and trails.

Three city blocks of improvements were designed by ELR, and the project is currently in the bidding phase.  ELR will carry the project through construction and final inspection and acceptance.  Some of the amenities included in this phase of improvements are period light fixtures resembling antique gas lights, wrought iron street benches and matching trash receptacles, sidewalks with ADA compliant accessible curb ramps, specialty paver bumpout areas to serve as pedestrian congregation areas, decorative wrought iron street sign hangers custom fabricated in West Virginia, parking areas, street trees with treewells, extensive landscaping, curb and gutter, utility pole relocation and elimination, and finally, storm drainage improvements.
