  Simpson Creek Bridge

E.L. Robinson Engineering Co. staff was hired by the West Virginia Department of Transportation - Division of Highways to prepare the engineering design, construction plans and specifications of replacement of existing superstructure and substructure components and widening of the existing dual I-79 Simpson Creek Bridge to eight lanes. This project consisted of structural design and geotechnical investigations; all completed in-house with E.L. Robinson Engineering Co. staff.

The Simpson Creek Bridge:

  • Total width is 68' (out to out) - Northbound and Southbound each and its length is 230' (c/c bearings)
  • Total of three spans with the longest span at 87 feet
  • Composite steel beam (36") on semi-integral abutments and two-column bents (36' high) on spread footing.
